BIOGRAPHY
Marielle is passionate about her jewellery and always challenges herself to extend her horizons, to dream up new designs, creating individual and distinctive pieces.
At just 32, she's managed to pack a whole trunk of travelling into her life, and as the bubbly French woman explains, her travelling has been her learning.
« From a young child I have always loved creating things and knew that my direction in life had to be in Art, in making beautiful pieces ».
« I started to travel in my teens looking for something, something to guide me ».
As she was interested in all sorts of things (pottery painting, wood carving, stones). She traveled to New Zealand, Spain and US where her first revelation has been making glass jewellery with the lampworking technique (joggling with liquid glass into a flame). In her typical way, she began pushing her creative boundaries wanting to learn more, gain more experience.
She returned to France, in Paris, to study in the AFEDAP (contemporary jewellery school) for two years, learning all the aspects of jewellery making.

At the meantime she enlarged her skills by working with different jewellers (Jean Gazdac, Jean Pierre Baquère, les mangeurs d'étoiles) and then gained her diploma. The meaning in contemporary jewellery is often more important than the look of the jewel itself, however, from her perspective a piece should highlight the women body, make her feel beautiful, in harmony with what she is wearing. So, she decided to focus on the balance and elegance of simple shapes.
Coming back in New Zealand, she had the privilege to share studios of well known jewellers as Peter Mc Kay and Nick Feint. All these experiences allowed her to create an exquisite and distinctive work, combining a French flair with a hint of New Zealand inspiration.
